Building Materials Lifecycle & Embodied Carbon
This education event will delve into the critical aspects of understanding and mitigating the environmental impacts of building materials throughout their lifecycle. Seattle 2030 District is proud to partner with DCI Engineers and Gensler & Associates for this event.
DCI Engineers will discuss the importance of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), with a focus on considerations for reducing embodied carbon during schematic structural system selection. They will also discuss their expertise in Whole Building LCA (Structure & Enclosure), which includes green-building rating system documentation for standards like LEED, ILFI, Green Globes, and AEGB.
Gensler & Associates, a global architecture, design, and planning firm, has committed to a net carbon-neutral portfolio by 2030. Gensler offers sustainability consulting services and strategies for developers, building owners, and tenants to minimize operational and embodied carbon in both new and existing buildings.
